The Our Chapter Management site has been a tremendous tool for our chapter's communications! Previously, when using commercially available bulk email services, members would routinely say that they didn't receive an email - and that communication needed to be improved within the chapter. The Our Chapter site provides an easy to use method of creating communication campaigns, allowing the scheduling of messages to be sent (email AND text). The ability to send a reminder text has been very well received.

The sign-in sheet function is fantastic - pulling directly from the roster, it's always updated with the current membership. Similarly, the survey function has proven to be a very valuable tool.

The roster management features of the site are robust and easy to navigate. Importing from National's Roster Management System was a breeze, with the assistance of Don.

I am the Treasurer for Chapter 108, and I initially used the Chapter Management tool for tracking dues and membership currency, but it is useful for much more than that. Although our chapter doesn''t fully utilize all the features available, the Chapter roster alone makes it a worthwhile program. What a great tool for our Chapter 288 this management program is— I love it!
I have been treasurer for a year and have jumped on the bandwagon, found the OurChapter site very helpful, useful, even calling up membership information during meetings when our members are asking about their dues. Also like the fact we can connect so easily with members through the roster info, by their personal preferences.
Probably still many features to be discovered, but the ease of operation and entering information is amazing—

This is the “BEST” tool a Chapter could have!

Being one of the founding members of our Chapter and actively participated as an Officer in one capacity or another over the last 14 years has given me a unique prospective of the many challenges that a Chapter faces.

All too often changes to the Leadership positons disrupt the cohesion of a Chapter’s documentation. Even coveted information such as the membership database can get joggled around so much that vital information is lost. Without the use of a universal platform, most Leaders will migrate the Chapter’s information into forms of software their custom to using. Legacy documentation and communication practices can be lost resulting in an unintentional decline in membership connection and participation.

Even simple lists such as membership contact information can be an overwhelming burden to a new secretary that does not have to tools to properly manage that information. Having to use personal email accounts, developing new contact lists, periodically updating, coordinating communications between Officers and the Membership can be one of the most challenging jobs for any of the Officer Positions.

The “Our Chapter” website at its simplest form addresses these issues, and goes well beyond from: Roster Management to Meeting and Attendance documentation; from Dues Management to Financial Record Keeping; from Email Campaigns for notifications to Surveys; and its functionalities go on and on.

The “Our Chapter” website allows Leadership to assign appropriate functionality permissions and/or visibility all the way down to non-member/visitor Calendar viewing. These permissions can easily be passed on as Leadership changes take place. The website and it functionality is simple to use and most will find similarities in use to our already familiar Young Eagles website.

Using the tools offered by this site will do more for the longevity of your Chapter than can be measured.

Our Chapter (64) has been using the Ourchapter.org site for a about 4-5 months now. It takes a bit to ensure you get your information in and start using the program effectively. Your initial membership can be imported, as Don did for us. We are still in this process of getting used to how it works and transitioning. Don White is EXTREMELY responsive to any question about the program and also added a column at my request to indicate when an expense was reconciled in the financials area. I would suggest the usage of this as it has been very helpful so far to our Chapter.

As an EAA chapter president, the ability to be in contact with your membership whenever there is an issue to discuss is very important. Over the years, EAA has had several offerings that aid in communication, however none of them has fully satisfied the needs of a chapter as well as the OurChapter app. This is by far the most comprehensive toolbox for chapter leaders that we have ever had.

The Survey tool gives me the ability to put together a quick survey, send it to the membership and get replies back almost instantly which has changed the way our chapter makes decisions.

The features within the Roster Management tool, while also aiding in communication with the membership as a whole, provides me the ability to get to know each individual member by providing me with a picture, contact information, important expiry dates for their membership, background check and youth protection training for flying Young Eagles as well as aircraft information.

These tools along with chapter finances, event management, calendar, meeting and attendance modules are just a few of the many tools within OurChapter that make for a comprehensive chapter management program which I am currently exploring. The similarities between the OurChapter app and Don’s other successful offering, YoungEaglesDay.Org make it easy for anyone familiar with one to fully utilize the other. I highly recommend each chapter leader to look into adopting OurChapter as their management tool.

I have been using the Our Chapter.org website for about 9 months. There are so many things that this web site can do to help maintain records and communications in any organization! I haven’t begun to use all of them.

First and foremost is Membership roster. It is super easy to add a new member. The “new member” page has room for all the info you might want to have about your members. The list automatically alphabetizes as you enter info, you have the choice of listing by first or last names, whichever the user prefers. It’s also easy to add additional fields to suit your needs. Already have a comprehensive list of your members? That can be uploaded as a CSV file so that you do not need to reenter everything.

The next most helpful section is the Dues area. All your members are automatically shown here and it’s easy to enter each year’s dues as they are paid. It’s easy to call up the paid membership for any year that you’ve entered.

I really like the Sign-in Sheet function. Just tell the program what group of people you want shown and the program puts those names at the top of the sheet as a check off list and then fills the page with lines for others attending the meeting to sign in. This is a very professional and efficient sign in sheet.

The campaign email function. Each group can set up their own template for their emails. Imagine having your chapter logo at the top of every message you send, how elegant is that? Select which portion of the membership list you want to send to, all members, Officers only, young eagles pilots, or any other group you need to set up.

An added special feature of this web site is the fact that every page has its own video on how to use it, step by step.

Occasionally, I have a problem and a function will not work. If the mistake is mine (frequently), I get patient and clear instructions on how to proceed. If there is a problem with the program, it is quickly fixed, I get a notification that it has been fixed and I am thanked for bringing it to the writer’s attention. (When was the last time you got this kind of response from Microsoft?)

After using this program for my EAA chapter, I also now use it for my Ninety-Nines chapter. My fellow members are very impressed with the many functions as I introduce them. Everyone asks “Where did you find this gem?”

I have started using the OurChapter website and find it very easy to use. I’ve been using the YoungEaglesDay website for quite a while and there are a lot of similarities which makes using OurChapter even easier.

There are so many features in OurChapter that it will be a while until I’ve explored them all. I’ve concentrated on the functions I perform for the chapter, primarily roster management and sending out the monthly newsletters via email. I’ve been able to do everything I want at the moment, so nothing on the wish list so far.

I usually just jump in and try doing what I want, and have a high success rate at that. But when I need help, there are instructions and videos that walk you through tasks. The site is still being developed, so once in a while I’ve encountered issues, but an email to the developer (Don White) has them fixed within a day or so.

I do recommend other chapters give OurChapter a serious look.

I have been using OurChapter.org to manage a large Experimental Aircraft Association chapter for months. The application is very comprehensive in that it allows me to use one application to manage Member List, Financial Activity, and Email notification to members on all topics. This is the only application that allows me to manage this comprehensive information. The application manages functionally, as I prefer. We have had few minor issues that were resolved quickly and to our needs. We have also linked the site to another EAA Chapter Information web site seamlessly, retaining our members access to a wide variety of information they are used to, while giving me a comprehensive management app.

My name is John Foster, currently I am the treasurer of chapter 288 in Daytona Beach, FL. Before being treasurer, I was president of the chapter for 2 years. Chapter 288 has over 250 members.

I have been using the OurChapter.org website for approximately 3 months. Prior to using this site, my chapter used three different programs to manage the chapter. I used the EAA roster management to track the membership, Constant Contact to produce emails and my personal version of quicken to track finances.

“Our chapter” has allowed me to use one program to complete all the chapter requirements. It is much easier than my previous method. Sort of a “one stop shopping” resource.

The site designer has made many improvements since I first started using it. He seeks out my comments and has acted promptly on many of my suggestions. Overall, I find the site easy to use and always being improved. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs to combine roster, email and financial functions into one program.
